2008 FORMULA 1 SINOPEC CHINESE GRAND PRIX

Number of Laps: 56, Circuit Length: 5.451 km, Race Distance: 305.066 km, and Lap Record: M Schumacher (2004) – 1:32.238

Hamilton is starting from the pole position, Räikkönen second, Massa in third, Alonso in fourth and Kovalainen in fifth… it’s a very stressing race… If Hamilton finishes first and Massa by any chance drops under the fifth then the championship will be in Hamilton’s hands from today already! And well that is for sure what I don’t want!!!

We hear that there could be rain in sometime after the race starts from the BMW Sauber’s radio… and as it seems computers in the race saying there is 40% chance of rain during the race!!!

Lap 1; Kovalainen passes Alonso and almost passes Massa… just for Alonso taking back his position in fourth back right before getting to the second lap… Kubica moved from 11th to 8th. Heidfeld from 9th to 6th. And the Toyota who’s gone off th track in the begging gets to pit…

Lap 2; Hamilton leading with 1second… Webber passes Glock and in P11… and seems Bourdais fell from 8th to 18th… new nose for the Toyota…

Lap 4; Trulli is back in the pit climbs out of the car…

Lap 5; Hamilton leads with over 2 seconds… doesn’t seem that the Ferraris will be catching up anytime soon…

Lap 6; Bourdais passes Sutil now in P17…

Lap 7; Webber passes Barichello and runs now in P10…

Lap 8; Räikkönen seems to be pulling up and getting faster… he is keeping in touch with Hamilton while Massa seems he can’t keep up… and there seems Kovalainen might be having a prob… but still not clear!

Lap 9; Rosberg is stuck behind Glock fighting to take P12… Hamilton fastest lap again…

Lap 10; Webber passes Piquet… and Räikkönen takes over the fastest lap…

Lap 11; seems the sot tyres warmed up on the Ferrari at last… Räikkönen seems to be catching up and taking one fastest lap after another… from over 4 seconds between the Finn and Hamilton to 3,7seconds…

Lap 13; Rosberg passes Glock finally… Webber pits goes with softer tyre in 7.6s… Hamilton and Räikkönen almost the same pace now… and Hamilton takes the fastest lap back from Räikkönen…

Lap 14; Massa is getting faster…. Replay for Piquet’s off track brief incident in the final turn… seems Ferrari ready for a stop…

Lap 15; Massa pits… Alonso right behind him… Massa stays on softer tyre and Alonso changes to harder… Alonso rejoins right behind Piquet and Massa rejoins in P7… Hamilton pits…

Lap 16; Räikkönen right behind Hamilton in the pit… Hamilton stays with harder tyre and in a 9.4s stop… Räikkönen goes harder tyre in a 9.3s stop… Rosberg pits… Kovalainen leading… Replay explains Sutil’s back in pit as seems smoke coming from the back of his car…

Lap 17; The first stops are playing in Hamilton’s advantage…

Lap 18; Heidfeld makes first stop… stays harder tyre and takes 8.3s in pit… and rejoins in front of Glock.

Lap 19; Kovalainen pits from lead… 10.3s and harder tyres for the Finnish… Vettel pits and keeps harder tyre in a 10.7s stop…

Lap 20; Barichello pits…

Lap 21 Massa still seems to be in the back not catching up with the leader, I’m not sure the soft tyre was a good choice for him…

Lap 22; Räikkönen is getting faster than Hamilton… And Renault telling Alonso that Kovalainen has more gas and will run at least 6 laps longer than he would…

Lap 23; it’s showing that Kubica is taking the chance and might be going for the one stopper on this race!!! Very difficult if that’s his plan! Button P12… Hamilton seems to have a good adjusts on the front wing and easing away from Räikkönen…

Lap 24; Bourdais pits.

Lap 25; Piquet pits from P6… Massa’s speed seems to be improving…

Lap 26; Kubica pits… stays on harder tyre in a 6.7s stop… that means he is a 2 stopper!

Lap 28; Räikkönen is getting closer to Hamilton…

Lap 29; Coulthard makes his first stop from P9… Fisichella pits too.

Lap 30; Räikkönen is half a second closer to Hamilton because of the traffic that slowed Hamilton a little!

Lap 31; Räikkönen hits traffic… Now he slowed down while Hamilton got his act together…

Lap 32; Nakajima finally makes his stop which seems to be his only stop… Webber is in the pit also… Bourdais is in P14 after passing Coulthard…

Lap 33; Glock is the last man to stop… Hamilton leads now 8s…

Lap 34; Kubica is in P7 now… and we hear Renault or the radio telling Alonso to push more… and Alonso doesn’t disappoint them and pushes to get a better personal lap…

Lap 35; McLaren ready for stop… the plan must have been for Hamilton to go in, but Kovalainen’s front right tyre punctured and it was Kovalainen in pit… rejoins the race in P17…

Lap 37; Alonso pits from 4th takes softer tyres in a 7.8s… Massa pits and take the harder and gets out after a 7.5s stop and rejoins in fourth…

Lap 39; Hamilton and Räikkönen pit… both change to softer tyres… Piquet makes his second stop…

Lap 40; Heidfeld pits from P2… Hamilton leads… Bourdais and Rosberg pit…

Lap 41; Kubica pits…6.2s stop and takes the softer and rejoins in 7th… and we see the gap between Räikkönen and Massa getting smaller… he will have to give his position to Massa for the points…

Lap 42; Vettel pits, Kovalainen makes up to P16…

Lap 43; Massa is very close to Räikkönen who will not make it hard for his team mate to pass him…

Lap 44; Button makes his second stop…

Lap 45; Kovalainen and Webber fighting for P15… and Nakajima and Bourdais fighting for P13…

Lap 48; the game has to played right… as it’s not allowed any more to be given your position to any one even if it is a team mate… so that is what taking Massa a long time to pass Räikkönen with now is less than 2s close…

Lap 50; Finally Massa passes Räikkönen… Kovalainen pits for third time and park in the garage…

Lap 51; Alonso is closing up on Räikkönen…

Lap 54; Alonso sets a personal best lap as trying to chase the podium!

Final lap; Hamilton leads and seems to have slowed himself down so no chances for any accidents… will he be the champion of 2008???

Hamilton in first, second Massa, third Räikkönen and Alonso in fourth… and Kubica finished in 6th which means he is out of the title!!!
